| More charges in stabbing death | | A Trinity man allegedly responsible for the stabbing death of Michael Ray Carr faces additional charges, filed after authorities investigated a series of events including a domestic situation, wreck and attempted carjacking.

| Construction still lags at WHS | | The exact opening day for Wheatmore High School has not been set yet, said Donald Andrews, superintendent of Randolph County Schools. For now, the plan is still to open Trinity and Wheatmore high schools on Aug. 21 on the THS campus.
